i am old. okay, i'm not, but i'm certainly not the 16 year old pit kid i used to be. i now prefer to stand somewhere in the back, near-ish the sound board and really soak in the whole experience. lame? perhaps.
a few weeks ago we (me and the roommates) went to a show because we had some friends in town who were playing. the turn-out was horrible. seriously, if you had taken the bands and the people who were personally friends with the bands out of the room there were probably about 15 people left. sad.
so we decided that to be good friends we'd leave the back of the room, put on our dancing shoes and cut a rug to support our friends.
at first i felt uber stupid...i have never been good at dancing and i felt a bit on display in the sparsely populated room, but we went for it anyway. we boogied and shook our booties like it was going out of style. our friends in the band joined us for the opening act which made us feel less dorky out on the dance floor. one of my friends was even called up on stage and won the "dance contest" scoring herself a pair of free sun glasses, go steph!
it turned out to be a ridiculously fun night and a fantastic workout, my legs were SORE the next day!
